Avery Husted (she/they)

 

Avery (she/they) is a passionate therapist trainee with a strong commitment to providing trauma-informed and healing-centered therapy to members of the LGBTQ+ community. With a background in social work, Avery offers a nuanced understanding of societal impacts on mental health, guided by a socioecological perspective on systemic oppression. Drawing from lived experience, Avery's therapeutic interests include polyamory, open relationships, and healing from trauma.

Before joining Queer LifeSpace, Avery began her career in crisis services, where she worked extensively in youth shelter settings and advocated for survivors of sexual violence. These experiences ignited her profound passion for supporting clients through connection and advocacy.

In therapy sessions, Avery is distinguished by her warm, open-minded, and empowering approach. She prioritizes creating a supportive environment where clients feel valued and understood. Avery is deeply committed to recognizing and respecting her clients' complex intersectional identities, ensuring that each individual's unique experiences and perspectives are honored and integrated into the therapeutic process.

Avery is a white queer femme person from the Bay Area. Outside of therapy, Avery enjoys doing pottery, frequenting her favorite coffee shops, and spending quality time with friends and her cats.
